NOTWITHSTANDING the amount of sickness caused by the hot weather, there have fortunately been very few deaths directly due to the high temperature.
Besides those of Fritz Zucher and the child Alice Hendry, the only one reported is that of a seven-months’-old girl, the child of Mr. Percy White, assistant-inspector of nuisances.
The child died on Sunday. In three or four other cases the heat may have had something to do with death, but not directly.
Although many people, especially women-folk, suffered intensely while the abnormal weather
lasted, with the change of temperature came a change of condition, and in most cases health and strength returned.
