The shade temperature in Brisbane to-day reached 101. 9, the heat being fanned by hot westerly winds.
Not since 1925 has the temperature exceeded 100 degrees in Brisbane.
Bush fires have broken out in many suburbs, and the fire brigades spent a busy day quelling outbreaks.
