February was a wonderfully cool month. There were one or two warm days, but nothing like the usual run of exhausting heat.<\/div>\n
However, Sunday, the first day of March, marked the beginning of a burst which quickly dried up any germ of an idea that summer was over.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The temperature on that day reached 104 deg. Monday was even hotter, the mercury climbing to 109 deg., while Tuesday and Wednesday again saw 104 deg.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
