Yet another sweltering day is promised for tomorrow, but a disturbance approaching from the Bight should bring relief by to-morrow evening.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph onPage\">\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">Today&#8217;s century makes the eleventh this summer, leaving all previous records well behind. Last night&#8217;s minimum temperature of 68.1deg. was the lowest for five days, making sleep possible.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph onPage\">\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">Three old residents of Benalla died from the effects of heat to-day.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph onPage\">\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">TENNIS PLAYER COLLAPSES.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph onPage\">\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">Playing in the M.C.C. women&#8217;s tennis championship to-day, Miss Shirley Whittaker, the Victorian left-hander, collapsed just after the beginning of the second set of her match, and did not regain consciousness for half an hour.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph onPage\">\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read clicked\">Weather Bureau officiate state that the heat wave is due to a high pressure area lying inertly over the Tasman Sea.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WORST MARCH HEAT WAVE (1934, March 14).
