Retrieved April 16, 2020, from <a href=\"https:\/\/trove.nla.gov.au\/newspaper\/article\/129278706?searchTerm=april%20heat%20wave&amp;searchLimits=#\">https:\/\/trove.nla.gov.au\/newspaper\/article\/129278706?searchTerm=april%20heat%20wave&amp;searchLimits=#<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">HEAT WAVE FORECAST FIRST IN APRIL FOR 20 YEARS<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">Century Unlikely<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">&#8220;Adelaide will definitely experience some really hot weather within the next few days,&#8221; said the acting Government Meteorologist (Mr. Newman) today. &#8220;On an average we have a heat wave in April once once in 25 years.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">&#8220;A temperature of 100 deg. has never been recorded in April here, and I do not think that the mercury will rise that high this time, although a mild heat wave is certain.<\/div>\n<div class=\"read\">The last spell of heat in April was in 1913, when there were three days of more than 90 degs.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">&#8220;As winds veer to the east, conditions should become considerably warmer,&#8221; he said.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">Mr. Newman also expects warmer nights, although nocturnal radiation will help to keep the temperatures down.<\/div>\n<div class=\"read\">Some places in the highlands, however, may experience some fairly cold nights, but it is extremely unlikely that any frosts will occur, as they sometimes do in April after warmer days.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">The heat wave will not catch manufacturers unprepared.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">&#8220;We have been expecting it,&#8221; said the manager of an icecream company this afternoon. &#8220;Weather usually, goes in cycles. In the Northern Hemisphere last summer was a very late one. Actually, winter was not in full blast until December.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">&#8220;As, the northern summer extended far into autumn, we were prepared for a similar happening here.&#8221;<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">Other cordial and icecream manufacturers were jubilant about the news.
