The dry spell over the Macleay was broken last week by a heavy thunderstorm. Accompanied by hail, torrential rain fell for a Quarter of an hour, and the wind blew with cyclonic force. Ninety-five points were registered at West. Kempsey Post Office. Of this total 66 points fell in a quarter of an hour. Street trees were torn about, and gardens ruined.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Damage caused by the storm at Leamington private hospital. Central Kempsey, was likened to that of a bomb blast. The roof and ceiling were lifted from a detached room built of brick, and bricks from the wall toppled down as Sister Lawrence, who was occupying the room, made her escape.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
