On <span class=\"highlightedTerm\" data-x=\"2304\" data-y=\"1744\" data-w=\"156\" data-h=\"42\">November<\/span> 11, when Perth\u2019s <span class=\"highlightedTerm\" data-x=\"2105\" data-y=\"1786\" data-w=\"118\" data-h=\"42\">heat<\/span> reached its peak of 97 degrees, Melbourne\u2019s highest was 62, Hobart\u2019s 56.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">FIRST INDICATION<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">First indication of the <span class=\"highlightedTerm\" data-x=\"2770\" data-y=\"1962\" data-w=\"155\" data-h=\"38\">heatwave <\/span>came in the West Gascoyne and at Geraldton on <span class=\"highlightedTerm\" data-x=\"2410\" data-y=\"2044\" data-w=\"153\" data-h=\"36\">November<\/span> 3.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">By the next day readings were above normal in the metropolitan area, and by Sunday minor <span class=\"highlightedTerm\" data-x=\"2788\" data-y=\"2169\" data-w=\"137\" data-h=\"39\">heatwave <\/span>conditions prevailed over most of the south-west districts and continued until yesterday.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">Highest reading\u2019s were at Guildford\u2014 100 on Wednesday and 101 on Thursday.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">In the city maximum temperatures were above normal on nine successive days, reached 90 or over on four successive days.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">Night temperatures were also consistently high, which fact, together with the unbroken rise in day temperatures, kept city buildings hot and made the oppressive conditions more apparent.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">HIGH READINGS<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">Max.
