Victoria’s bushfire danger has never been greater in 35 years, the chief fire officer of the Country Fire Authority, Mr C. A. Daw, said. today.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Mr Daw returned to Melbourne today after a tour of the bushfire areas. He said that in his 35 years experience he had never seen the country so dry.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Meanwhile, the Weather Bureau forecasts another heat wave next week. The week-end will be mild with sea breezes, but a cyclone over the Indian Ocean near Cocos Island is moving toward Australia and will bring heat-wave conditions with northerly winds.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

All fires in Victoria are now under control. The are at Sailor’s Creek, four miles south of Daylesford,<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

near Mt. Macedon, has burnt itself out, but men are standing by in case of a north wind.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Last night was the coldest night this year. The minimum temperature, at 6.30 a.m., was 51.8 deg. \u2014<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
