The attractive <span class=\"highlightedTerm\" data-x=\"4141\" data-y=\"6668\" data-w=\"143\" data-h=\"47\">glaciers<\/span> are said to be actually passing from the landscape, and as they recede the hotels along their borders find their visitors becoming fewer.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">These <span class=\"highlightedTerm\" data-x=\"3771\" data-y=\"6854\" data-w=\"139\" data-h=\"46\">glaciers<\/span> are not running away, by any means, but they are deteriorating slowly, with a persistency that means their final annihilation. Hotels that a few years ago stood very near to a great river of slowly-moving ice now find themselves a considerable distance away.<\/div>\n<div class=\"read\">The famous <span class=\"highlightedTerm\" data-x=\"3637\" data-y=\"7180\" data-w=\"141\" data-h=\"45\">glaciers<\/span> of the Rhone have shrunk several thousand feet in the last 20 years ; con-<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">siderably more than 100ft a year.<\/div>\n<div class=\"read\">A number of the well-known <span class=\"highlightedTerm\" data-x=\"4226\" data-y=\"7318\" data-w=\"140\" data-h=\"45\">glaciers<\/span> are also shrinking at about the same rate, and the fact is established that these reminders of the great glacial period are certainly <span class=\"highlightedTerm\" data-x=\"3637\" data-y=\"7508\" data-w=\"244\" data-h=\"45\">disappearing.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Alpine Glaciers Disappearing.
