America\u2019s fastest-warming cities all lie in the Southwest \u2014 a hotspot for temperature increases. Las Vegas, El Paso, Tucson, and Phoenix have warmed more than any other cities in the country. Each has gotten at least 4.3\u00b0F hotter since the first Earth Day.<\/p>\n<p>These examples may seem extreme, but they are not exceptions. Since 1970, temperatures have risen at nearly 98 percent of the U.S. cities assessed by Climate Central. Ten cities have warmed by at least 4\u00b0F. Another 59 cities \u2014 including Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Houston \u2014 have gotten at least 3\u00b0F warmer.<\/p>\n<p>Some southern cities, such as Orlando (0.9\u00b0F) and Biloxi (0.5\u00b0F) have seen smaller temperature increases, but only six of 242 cities examined have gotten cooler, or seen no change.<\/p>\n<p>Climate change worse everywhere than everywhere else<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>https:\/\/www.climatecentral.org\/news\/report-american-warming-us-heats-up-earth-day First, take cities.
