A wind storm over Melbourne last night, coupled with heat and humidity, made it one of the most unpleasant nights experienced for many years. At midnight the temperature was over 80<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

degrees, while the wind attained a maximum speed of 55 miles an hour.<\/div>\n
A cool change early to-day brought a heavy rain storm, which was felt over a wide area of the State, and which resulted in general rains.<\/div>\n
The rain was very light in the Mallee and the northern and north-eastern district the best falls recorded in the southern portion of the State, and those parts of the Wimmera which benefited least by last week\u2019s rain received the heaviest of last night\u2019s rain.<\/div>\n
The falls in the western district ranged to an inch and a half. The rain will be of great benefit to<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
