On Christmas Day the maximum temperature was over 104 degrees. The following day it reached 105.6 deg., and stayed over the century mark for eight hours.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read clicked\"><span class=\"highlightedTerm\" data-x=\"2028\" data-y=\"5693\" data-w=\"129\" data-h=\"46\">In<\/span> Adelaide on Christmas Day the maximum rose to 108.2 deg., and stayed over the hundred for eleven hours\u2014that&#8217;s <span class=\"highlightedTerm\" data-x=\"2189\" data-y=\"5824\" data-w=\"205\" data-h=\"38\">heat.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">On the Friday it rose to 106.1 deg., and remained over the three figure mark for nine consecutive hours. From Sydney no actual temperature figures were received, but bushfires around Newport and other parts close to the Metropolitan area were reported.
