Today was the sixth day of the heat wave, and still another century was added to the record of Melbourne\u2019s worst March heat wave, and one of the most prolonged spells of heat ever experienced here.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

On five of last six days thermometer reading has exceeded 100deg.<\/div>\n
To-day\u2019s official maximum at the Weather Bureau was 101.4deg., and at Gaunt\u2019s in the city 104deg. was recorded.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

There is hope at last, however. Yet another sweltering day is promised for tomorrow, but a disturbance approaching from the Bight should bring relief by to-morrow evening.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Today\u2019s century makes the eleventh this summer, leaving all previous records well behind. Last night\u2019s minimum temperature of 68.1deg. was the lowest for five days, making sleep possible.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Playing in the M.C.C. women\u2019s tennis championship to-day, Miss Shirley Whittaker, the Victorian left-hander, collapsed just after the beginning of the second set of her match, and did not regain consciousness for half an hour.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
