Victoria\u2019s bushfire danger has never been greater in 35 years, the chief fire officer of the Country Fire Authority, Mr C. A. Daw, said. today.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Mr Daw returned to Melbourne today after a tour of the bushfire areas. He said that in his 35 years experience he had never seen the country so dry.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Meanwhile, the Weather Bureau forecasts another heat wave next week. The week-end will be mild with sea breezes, but a cyclone over the Indian Ocean near Cocos Island is moving toward Australia and will bring heat-wave conditions with northerly winds.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

All fires in Victoria are now under control. The are at Sailor\u2019s Creek, four miles south of Daylesford, near Mt. Macedon, has burnt itself out, but men are standing by in case of a north wind.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
