In his presidential address in the geographical section of the British Association for the Advancement of<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Science, Lord Meston predicted that just as a vast ice<\/span> cap once covered a large part of the now civilised world, so will the present dwelling places of man be buried beneath an immense coat of ice.<\/span><\/div>\n
No<\/span> anxiety need be felt by the present generation or for countless generations to come, for the new ice<\/span> age<\/span> envisager will not come, said Lord Meston, for many hundreds of thousands of years.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The prediction was in terms of geography, for, as Lord Meston pointed out, it is only a “fraction of time”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

since Britain and a great part of Europe was buried deep under an ice <\/span>cap such as now covers the Antarctic<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
