Retrieved October 21, 2023, from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/trove.nla.gov.au\/newspaper\/article\/210303893?searchTerm=october%20heat&amp;searchLimits=#\">https:\/\/trove.nla.gov.au\/newspaper\/article\/210303893?searchTerm=october%20heat&amp;searchLimits=#<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"line editMode\">\n<div class=\"read\">The conditions prevailing in Adelaide are exceptionally hot for October, although up to Friday at noon, when the temperature was 97.1, a new record had not been established, the hottest day ever experienced for the same month having registered 100.5.<\/div>\n<div class=\"read\">That was 55 years ago.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line editMode\">\n<div class=\"read\">The Weather Office report states:\u2014\u201dHigh-pressure conditions still exist this morning over the whole of eastern Australia, the centre of the system lying off the New South Wales coast.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line editMode\">\n<div class=\"read\">Hot northerly winds prevail throughout this State, the temperature at 8.30 a.m. exceeding 80 deg. at a good many stations.
