This was followed by a cool change<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">which the Weather Bureau warned was only temporary.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">Bush fire warnings have been issued and country fire brigades are on the alert. At Boort, inland Victoria, the temperature at 2.30 was 104 and still rising.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">A state of emergency exists in the city water supply, as consumption soars during the heat wave. The Board of Works warned to-day that thousands of people would be without water if three suburban water storages fell much lower.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">North Essendon reservoir supplies failed for three hours last night for the first time in history and again to-day.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">House-holders In the western suburbs were without water, and fire hydrants had no water<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">pressure. Dec. 6. Sixteen people collapsed because of the heat in Sydney to-day.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">Fifteen were treated in hospital, and then were allowed to go home.
