The Environmental Protection Agency says the average global temperatures are\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.epa.gov\/climatechange\/science\/future.html#Temperature\">expected<\/a>\u00a0to increase by 2 to 11.5 F (1.1 to 6.4 C) by 2100, placing Australia at the warmer end of the spectrum, and way above the United Nation\u2019s goal to keep temperatures from rising more than\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/unfccc.int\/resource\/docs\/2009\/cop15\/eng\/11a01.pdf\">3.6 F<\/a>\u00a0(2 C).<\/p>\n<div class=\"margin_vertical\">\u00a0The groups used about 40 global climate models to come to their conclusions. They anticipate warmer overall temperatures with fewer cold spells in the coming years, accompanied by rising sea levels, heavy rainfall, and extreme fire weather in some regions. Australia\u2019s temperatures have risen by 1.6 F (0.9 C) since 1910, and it\u2019s already impacting the regional climate by changing rainfall patterns and making the south more susceptible to fires.<\/div>\n<div class=\"margin_vertical\">\n<section class=\"content\">\n<div>\n<div class=\"margin_vertical\">\n<section class=\"content\">\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph | margin_bottom_lg margin_centered\">The higher warming rate is attributed in part to Australia\u2019s location near the South Pole. Polar areas\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.popsci.com\/australia-heating-faster-rest-world\/(http:\/\/earthobservatory.nasa.gov\/Features\/ClimateStorms\/page3.php)\">experience faster warming<\/a>\u00a0compared to areas near the equator, mainly because of a loss of sea ice.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"margin_vertical\">\n<section class=\"content\">\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph | margin_bottom_lg margin_centered\">To keep Australia\u2019s rate of warming at the lower end of the agencies\u2019 estimates\u2013about 5 F\u2013it would require countries around the world to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, not just Australia. The agencies hope this report will draw support at the next\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom.unfccc.int\/lima\/\">United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change meeting<\/a>, slated for later this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | margin_bottom_lg margin_centered\">This has all been debunked. We get more cold spells in Australia, and the antarctic is gaining sea ice. That\u2019s why eighty climate warming scientists got stranded there.
