Feb. 12.\u2014Sweltering heat and high humidity made conditions extremely unpleasant in goldfields towns to-day. Menzies recorded a maximum of 111 degrees and the same temperature<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">was reported from Rawlina, on the trans-Continental line, where one of the most trying days was experienced for some years.<\/div>\n<div class=\"read clicked\">Laverton on the goldfields and Eucla on the coast both recorded 110 degrees. Other high readings were: Leonora 109 degrees, Forrest 108 degrees, and Kalgoorlie 106 degrees.<\/div>\n<div class=\"read\">At most of these stations the sky was clouded and the humidity was high. Scattered thunderstorms occurred in most of the sub-tropics to-day and temperatures in the agricultural areas were in the high 90\u2019s.<\/div>\n<div class=\"read\">There would have been many centuries but for overcast conditions. After a minimum temperature of 68.4 degrees overnight Perth recorded its maximum of 82.9 degrees at 11.17 a.m.<\/div>\n<div class=\"read\">The heat was then checked by an early sea breeze, but the humidity rose slightly when the sky clouded.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HIGH TEMPERATURES (1951, February 13).\u00a0Kalgoorlie Miner (WA : 1895 \u2013 1954), p. 4.
