STARVING STOCK Sheep have been in this district from the Mallee in former years when the Mallee was drought stricken.<\/div>\n
This year mobs of horses are to be seen on the roads searching for grass, as well as sheep. They have not been here before. One mob in charge of three men, is searching for grass here at present.<\/div>\n
About 50 horses are in the mob. Their condition speaks only too plainly of the state of things in the Mallee.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

POTATO CROP.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The dry weather has been more severe on the early planted potatoes than ever before. In some paddocks<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
potatoes that came up a fortnight ago are more advanced now than then, and in other paddocks, where potatoes came up a fortnight ago, the seed has died through dry rot caused by lack of moisture, and the stalks have withered completely away.<\/div>\n
