Retrieved October 30, 2024, from <a href=\"https:\/\/trove.nla.gov.au\/newspaper\/article\/113689573\/12083851#\">https:\/\/trove.nla.gov.au\/newspaper\/article\/113689573\/12083851#<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"blog-info\">\n<div class=\"zone onPage readMode\" data-page-id=\"12083851\" data-x=\"5036\" data-y=\"2130\" data-w=\"929\" data-h=\"232\" data-rotation=\"-1\">\n<div class=\"paragraph onPage\">\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">The weather in Sydney on Sunday was fine, clear, and warm, with a refreshing north-east wind blowing; but yesterday the conditions were decidedly unpleasant, a hot westerly wind and dust prevailing.<\/div>\n<div class=\"read\">The Government Astronomer accounts for the heat in the following manner: \u2014 He says that very warm weather is being experienced in the north-west of the continent, and the wind coming across the heated sand plains is intensified, consequently in these parts we receive the full benefit of the hot blasts.<\/div>\n<div class=\"read\">The maximum shade temperature recorded at the Observatory was 90deg in the shade, and the minimum shade reading was 72deg.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"zone onPage readMode\" data-page-id=\"12083851\" data-x=\"5036\" data-y=\"2362\" data-w=\"949\" data-h=\"1313\" data-rotation=\"-1\">\n<div class=\"paragraph onPage\">\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">Mr. Russell says it was the hottest day experienced so far this season. Previous to this the highest record was 82.5deg in the shade, which was recorded on September 16.<\/div>\n<div class=\"read\">The metropolis is not the only part of the colony which is experiencing frequent heat,as several stations inland reported the maximum shade reading in the nineties.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">Messrs. Goldsbrough, Mort, and Company have received the following station reports: \u2014 Geanmoney (Coonamble), October 5: 131 points of rain in two days. Taglands (Gilgandra), October 5: One inch of rain.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">Cullengelli (Colli), October 5:<\/div>\n<div class=\"read\">The weather has set in very hot; 95deg in the shade to-day.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">According to the 9 a.m. weather reports strong N.W. winds prevailed yesterday over the southern districts and along the south coast, reaching to gales at Bateman\u2019s Bay, Bega, and Nimitybelle.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">Showery conditions were being experienced at the latter station, while \u201clike rain\u201d was advised from Albury and Kiandra. A light rainfall, the result of thunderstorms, has occurred at scattered places, consequently there are no important rain records for the 48 hours ended 9 a.m..
