Part 12 in everywhere is warming twice as fast as everywhere else."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/poststar.com\/news\/local\/adirondacks-warming-faster-than-the-global-average-study-shows\/article_f65e9da7-eec0-56a1-8340-5472c3a4a285.html\">https:\/\/poststar.com\/news\/local\/adirondacks-warming-faster-than-the-global-average-study-shows\/article_f65e9da7-eec0-56a1-8340-5472c3a4a285.html<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"subscriber-preview\">\n<p>HAGUE \u2014 The Adirondacks have warmed more than two times the global average, according to scientific studies done by SUNY Plattsburgh.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"subscriber-preview\">\n<p>The Adirondacks and North Country have warmed about 3 degrees Fahrenheit since 1900, and that increase is expected to double by 2050 if carbon emissions remain \u201cbusiness as usual,\u201d said Eric Leibensperger, associate professor at the Center for Earth and Environmental Science.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"subscriber-only\">\n<p>By the end of the century, the temperature increase could be so much, Leibensperger said it would be a \u201cgame changer,\u201d especially for the winters as those who enjoy the Adirondacks know them.<\/p>\n<div class=\"subscriber-only\">\n<p>The data was debuted at the North Country Climate Reality\u2019s conference called, \u201cAdirondack Communities: Preparing for and Responding to Climate Change,\u201d held Saturday at the Silver Bay YMCA Conference Center. It had a breakout session of a couple dozen people astonished.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"subscriber-only\">\n<p>Alexandria Elliott, one of Leibensperger\u2019s students, said there hasn\u2019t been as much temperature change in the spring and fall, but there\u2019s been significant change during the winter months, about 4 degrees Fahrenheit since 1900. The warming particularly ramped up starting around 1980, the data has shown.<\/p>\n<div class=\"subscriber-only\">\n<p>\u201cPersonally I have witnessed this change in my lifetime which is pretty horrifying to me,\u201d Elliott said. \u201cI remember when winters were a lot more colder and had a lot more snow. And I\u2019m young so that\u2019s scary to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"subscriber-only\">\n<p>The northern hemisphere of the globe is seeing the most temperature warmth, Leibensperger said, partially because there\u2019s more land mass. Land mass warms quicker than water, he added.
