LONG GRASS BLAMED.
A strange reason has been advanced by meteorologists for the apparent absence of summer in Melbourne.
They declare that the fact that grass is long in Victoria has prevented Melbourne from having a really scorching thirst instilling summer.
This is how they explain it:
The extra lot of rain kept the days cooler and, warmer nights made the grass grow and kept the earth cool.
Heat doesn’t come from the direct rays of’ the sun. It is really hot only when the dry earth reflects the sun’s rays and when the earth is heated with prolonged sunshine on arid areas.
Long green grass has prevented the earth warming, and has stopped a lot of reflection.
Experts declare that summer is still here, and that it has been here the same as in previous years only differently — days have been cool and nights warm.
