An inquiry by Evan Jones is whether I think the climate is changing, becoming more cool, as he has heard older people declare.

It has changed in the last few years, as it is always changing for periods short or long but this cannot be described as a permanent or constant change.

Such changes may only be described in geological terms—not measured by years or lifetimes. In the procession of the centuries the longest lifetime is a very small affair.

Hot or cold periods extending over years may be noticed. They have occurred before and will occur again, but they do not mean a permanent change.

Our own lifetime means everything to us and we are apt to consider the things we notice during that lifetime as permanent rather than passing events though when we consider what time means such changes are but as a cloud passing across the face of the sun.
