MELBOURNE- Dust storms were reported over wide areas of North-West Victoria and south-West New South Wales yesterday, together with hot winds, and gusts up to 60 m.p.h.
Mildura had its warmest August day for 13 years, with a maximum at 3.30 p.m. of 82.8 degrees.
Barometer pressure fell to the lowest reading for August since 1907, and the lowest for any month for at least five years.
Airline pilots reported dust storms from Broken Hill to Bendigo, with visibility less, than a mile in some cases.
