THE WEATHER.-During the last few days the<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

weather has been as hot and as distressing as ever<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I remember in the colony. The celebrated Black<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Thursday was not more oppressive than was Sun-<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
day last. The gusts of wind from the north-west<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
were, throughout yesterday and Sunday, like<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
blasts from a furnace, almost scorching the face<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The physical powers suffered under great depres-<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
sion, and general illness was caused, especially<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
among children. The thermometer during both<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
days indicated 115 degrees in the shade. The<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
surrounding country is evidently devastated with<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
bush-fires, To-day there has been a change, and<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
the sky betokens rain\u2014a welcome boon.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
