Bromley) remarked on Friday that May, June, and<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"zone onPage readMode\" data-page-id=\"2338861\" data-x=\"124\" data-y=\"5276\" data-w=\"657\" data-h=\"798\" data-rotation=\"-1\">\n<div class=\"paragraph onPage\">\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">July had established a record for mildness. The subsoil in the agricultural areas had a good soaking in March, and the farmers had done well with the fallowing and cultivation.<\/div>\n<div class=\"read\">A dry spell caused the postponement of work generally in April, and by the middle of May the prospects were most unsatisfactory. A few days later good rains entirely altered things through-<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">out the State.<\/div>\n<div class=\"read\">Seeding was completed by June, during which month the rain registrations were rather light. The gauging for July had been good, and most of the agricultural areas had received from<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\">a quarter to half an inch since Thursday night. The Director of Agriculture (Professor A. J. Perkins) said the agriculturists were at the mercy of spring in such a season as the present, in which seeding had been so late.<\/div>\n<div class=\"read\">A fairly late spring was necessary, so that the State could get good crops.
