The maximum temperature was reached at 3 p.m., when the thermometer registered 98.6deg. in Perth, a temperature 1.6deg. in advance of the previous record for <span class=\"highlightedTerm\" data-x=\"4585\" data-y=\"2412\" data-w=\"66\" data-h=\"29\">October.<\/span> The temperature fell very slowly during the afternoon, and at 5 p.m. was at 95deg.<\/div>\n<div class=\"read\">The <span class=\"highlightedTerm\" data-x=\"4748\" data-y=\"2482\" data-w=\"73\" data-h=\"26\">heat <\/span>wave prevailed all along the coastal districts, and 104deg. was registered at Geraldton. and 93deg. at Bunbury.<\/div>\n<div class=\"read\">A search of the records of the previous 36 years revealed that only on five occasions, during late <span class=\"highlightedTerm\" data-x=\"4427\" data-y=\"2674\" data-w=\"133\" data-h=\"28\">October<\/span> and early November, had a temperature of 96deg. been exceeded, and a registration of 100.6 deg. on November 6, 1918, was the one higher register for that season of the year.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"line\">\n<div class=\"read\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ABNORMAL HEAT.
