Hawkesbury District. The following record<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

from the Peninsula Observatory (and for which<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
we have to thank Mr John Tebbutt, F.R.A.S.) is<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
particularly interesting:\u2014<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\n
Yesterday (Sunday) the shade temperature at<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
this Observatory reached 116.8 degrees, or the<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
same as that attained on the 6th instant. To-day,<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
however, the maximum recorded was 118.8 degs,<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
the highest experienced here since 1862. The<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
next highest was recorded in 1878 when the<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
thermometer registered 117.1 degrees. During<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
the 33 years of my experience I have never till to-<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
day recorded as high as 100 degrees at 9 o’clock<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
a.m. At that hour this morning the reading was<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
102.8 degrees, and at 6 o’clock this evening the<\/div>\n
temperature had not sunk below 105 degrees.<\/div>\n
