For the first- time in March since 1934, the temperature in Melbourne on Friday reached 100deg., according to the 1 p.m. reading.
Bush-fire warnings were issued.
Following a maximum of 107.7deg. In Adelaide on Friday, a hot night was experienced, the temperature being at 87 at midnight.
The century was topped early on Saturday morning. At 10.30 it was 106, at noon 109.7.
An hour later it was over 112 in the city. No break was in sight.
In Melbourne on Monday the temperature reached 107deg., and 108 deg. was registered in Adelaide.
