EARLY SNOW STORMS.
VICTORIA FROZEN.
AFTER A HEAT WAVE.
MELBOURNE, April 21.
Victoria, which was sweltering in summer heat a few days ago, this morning had the first snow
storm of the year.
The snow was followed by a gale. Already more than six inches have fallen at Mt. Donnabuang, and to-night rain set in. Hotham Heights, in the Alps, reports a driving snowstorm early to-day, and Mt. Buffalo and Marysville are showing heavy white mantles.
The tops of the hills at Marysville were covered by the first snow for the year.
This morning rain and sleet fell in the lower levels, but no snow was reported in the township, although the temperature indicated that it was likely to follow.
The snow is about six inches deep near the summit of the hills.
VIOLENT SEAS.
Violent seas lashed Port Phillip Bay last night and to-day, causing considerable havoc on the
foreshore from St. Kilda to, Mentone.
