‘The Tim Flannery Memorial Dam’
With Sydney’s primary dam now almost 100 per cent full, NSW Water Minister Melinda Pavey considers changing its name:
Host Chris Kenny later refines his suggestion: instead of renaming Warragamba, just dedicate a spillway to the great climate forecaster.
UPDATE. A list of Tim Flannery’s climate Flannerisms.
UPDATE II. Reader David has a fine idea:
In hydrology circles there is this term – the average recurrence interval (ARI), i.e. 1 in 20 year flood, 1 in 100 year flood.
We could introduce the AFI – average flannery interval = the time between any given doomsday climate prediction and the failure of that prediction to occur.
In Mr Flannery’s case, the AFI of his empty dams prediction was less than 18 months.
All the NSW dams were spilling over by November 2010.
