Great heat continues to be experienced throughout the eastern portion of the United States, and many additional deaths are reported. In New York ten people have died as the result of the excessive. heat, and a similar number of fatal cases have occurred in Philadelphia.
There have, also been two fatalities in Boston, and one in Washington. Many thousands of people have almost deserted their homes, and are sleeping out in the parks and on the sea-shore.
