OCTOBER, 1930, was the fourth hottest for 73 years, the hottest October being in 1914.
The temperature yesterday was 96.3 degrees.
It will be warm again today, the forecast says.
The mean temperature last month (65.4) was 3½ degrees above the average.
On 13 days the shade temperature exceeded 90 degrees. The average of such days is seven. On 10 nights the thermometer remained above 60 degrees, the average being only four.

“A slight westerly change extended over the far west district by the afternoon, but although this may move eastward on Saturday, it is not expected to affect more than the coastal districts,” the Weather Bureau reported last night. “Westerly winds are still strong around the south-west corner of the continent, but before these can reach the State another warm to hot day can be expected away from the coastline. No rain is expected on Saturday.”
