Sydney sweltered yesterday In the hottest October weather for seven years The maximum temperature was 95. 6 degrees, which was recorded at 2. 15 p m and which was last exceeded in October, 1928, when a temperature of 98 degrees was registered.
The highest October temperature recorded in Sydney for the last 70 years was only 3. 2 degrees higher than yesterdays maximum.
The relative humidity was rather low yesterday, and dry atmospheric conditions prevailed until about 3. 30 p m , when the wind changed to an east-north-easterly and the temperature dropped 10 derees within half
an hour.
Corresponding with this change of wind, the actual moisture in the air practically doubled and the relative humidity increased considerably.
Cloudy and unsettled weather was reported from south coast centres last night and it was probable that a temporary southerly change would be experienced early to-day.
