The weather in Brisbane to-day was exceptionally warm. A hot wind blowing from the north made the heat unbearable, and in many engineering works work had to be suspended. On a number of outdoor jobs and road works the men knocked off from exhaustion.
At 3 o’clock a storm passed over the city; but only a few points of rain were registered. The
highest temperature in the city to-day was 109.3.
The previous highest recorded since 1887 was 105.9 on Boxing Day of 1893. Later in the afternoon the temperature became slightly cooler.
