(To the Editor of the Horsham Times.)
Sir,-The official readings of the Horsham Meteorological Observatory appear to read exceedingly high when compared with those of towns further north, and in previously hotter
district.
At one time Dimboola possessed a very bad reputation as a hot place,- but now, it occupies a back position, and is quite a charming resort as compared with 120 degrees.
In view of the late controversy at the council table it would be interesting to compare Horsham’s readings, both ,the authorised and Ryan’s corner, with the authorised readings at Dimboola.
I guess that. Ryan’s corner and Dim seems strange that the towns further north should just be a degree or two above or, below Dimboola, whereas Horsham’s’ “authorised” goes up like a balloon.
If it would interest your readers a comparison could be made of the three readings. Dimboola’s,
since the 1st to the 8th inclusive, are, -90, 101, 101, 101, 102, 102, 100, 105, 74, 79, 83, 90, 97, 103, 107, 110, 110, etc.
This record is not taken in a beautifully cool municipal hall, like Warrnambool’s, but in the Government shade box. We write to try and establish Diniboola’s prestige as a heat rival to our now formidable antagonist, Horsham.-Yours, etc.,
“COOL.”
