Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 99.3 degrees, the highest reading recorded this season. It is also the highest registered in November since 1908, when the mercury stood at 101.9 degrees.
HEAT IN VICTORIA.
MELIBOURNE, November 15.
In Victoria yesterday the weather conditions underwent a sudden change. In the city at 3.30 p.m. the thermometer recorded 95.3 degrees, while in the Goulburn Valley and Wimmera districts the mercury passed the century mark.
During the afternoon the heat, was so intense that tramlines buckled at Brighton, and a tram loaded With passengers narrowly escaped derailment.
