HEAT RECORDS FOR OCTOBER.
Saturday was the hottest day which has ever been recorded in Hobart during the month of October.
As records have been kept since 1841, it is at any rate the hottest October day for over seventy years.
The maximum temperature recorded at the Hobart Observatory during the day was 92.2, and the previous maximun recorded for October was 90 in 1878.
The hottest October day of recent years was 86, in 1907. The Hobart meteorological observer (Mr. Watt, formerly of Zeehan) has received advices that the temperature in Adelaide on Saturday was 102.2, which is also an October record for that city.
The previous highest was 100, in 1859.
The maximum temperature in Melbourne on Saturday was 98deg., which was the highest ever recorded in Melbourne during the month of October.
